The body of the cable or the “ribbon” itself is typically made from much smaller insulated wires that are bound together to create a long, protracted, flat surface. Wires are usually coded in different colors according to the function of each wire. The quotient usually also paints the top or uppermost wire with a specific color (usually red) to indicate the direction, so that the user can quickly identify which direction is up and which direction is down. In most cases, cables work through a series of conductors and connectors, with different sizes to choose from according to their main purpose.
