Wire harnesses are often confused with cable assemblies, however, the two are completely different. The main difference is that the cable assembly usually has only two ends, while the wire harness contains multiple ends, running in many different directions, and each breakpoint has multiple ends.

Wire assemblies are most commonly used in the transportation industry, including automobiles, buses, trucks, and airplanes. Construction machinery, industrial equipment, electronic products and white goods (household appliances) will also be built using wire harnesses.
