What is a flame retardant cable

Nov 08, 2021 Leave a message

Flame-retardant cables refer to cables that burn under specified test conditions. After the test fire source is removed, the flame spreads only within a limited range, and the residual flame or residual burn can be extinguished by itself within a limited time. Its basic feature is that it may be burned out and cannot operate in the event of a fire, but it can prevent the spread of fire. In the words of a layman, if a fire occurs in a cable, it can limit the burning to a local area without spreading, and keep other equipment to avoid further losses.

1. Structural characteristics of flame-retardant cables

The structure of the flame-retardant cable is basically the same as that of the ordinary cable, except that all or part of its insulating layer, sheath, outer sheath and auxiliary materials are made of flame-retardant materials.

2. Classification of flame-retardant cables

According to the different cable flame-retardant materials, flame-retardant cables are divided into two categories: halogen-containing flame-retardant cables and halogen-free low-smoke flame-retardant cables.
