SATA or Serial ATA or Serial Advanced Technology Attachment was introduced in 2001 as an IDE standard for connecting hard disk drives and other optical drives to motherboards. Any cable that is compatible with the IDE standard is called a SATA cable.
A SATA Cable connects storage devices like a hard disk, optical drive, etc. in a computer to a motherboard. SATA cables are used for both data transmission and to provide power to the data drives and SSDs.
