Insulation material for terminal wire harness

Nov 05, 2020 Leave a message

The insulating materials of terminal wire harnesses can be divided into two basic categories-thermosetting and thermoplastic, but there are so many types, compounds and mixtures in each category that there are almost no restrictions on the available insulating materials . At present, most of the insulation materials in the industry are composed of compounds made of synthetic rubber polymers (thermosetting) and compounds made of synthetic materials to provide special physical and electrical properties.

1. Thermosetting insulating material: The thermosetting material of the terminal wire harness is characterized by being stretched, compressed or deformed (within a reasonable limit) under the action of mechanical stress, and when the mechanical stress is removed, it can "rebound" to Initial state and shape. Since thermosetting insulating materials are not susceptible to thermal softening, they will not drip, flow or deform during applied thermal and electrical overload (which causes internal heating).

2. Thermoplastic insulating material: The terminal wire harness thermoplastic insulating material is famous for its excellent electrical characteristics and low cost. Thermoplastics are widely used as insulating materials because they can obtain good electrical properties due to their thin insulation thickness, especially in high-voltage cables. In addition, cables with a thinner insulation layer are usually smaller in size than cables made of thermosetting insulating materials with the same electrical properties.
