DC power cords
DC power cords are a cable that connects two DC devices or a DC device and a DC power supply. DC power cords are also called DC power cables. There are many types of DC products. Examples include DC power cords, DC power extension cords, and DC power adapter cords. DC power cords are used to connect DC power to devices that use DC power. DC power cable assemblies have different lengths and can have two or three pointed ends. A DC power extension cords are used to extend the length of standard DC power cables. DC power extension cord has a plug at one end and one or more sockets at the other end. Normally, the same type of connector is used at both ends of the wire. In contrast, DC power adapter cords have different types of plugs or receptacles at both ends.
Important specifications to consider when looking for a DC power cable assembly include wire length, wire shape, jacket material, cable maximum temperature, rated current, and rated voltage. Cord length is measured in feet or meters and includes two connectors. The wire shape can be flat or round. Cable maximum temperature is measured in degrees Fahrenheit or degrees Celsius. Choices for jacket material include polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and rubber. PVC is suitable for indoor use. When the DC cable is subjected to mechanical stress in dry and wet areas, a rubber jacket is used. All DC power cords have a housing to protect and insulate the wires. Some DC power cords, DC power extension cords, and DC adapter cords may carry additional specifications.
DC Plug
A DC connector (or DC plug, a common type of connector) is an electrical connector that provides direct current (DC) power. Compared with domestic AC power plugs and sockets, DC connectors have more non-interchangeable standard types. The size and arrangement of the DC connector can be selected to prevent accidental interconnection of incompatible sources and loads. Types vary from small coaxial connectors used to power portable electronic devices from AC adapters, to connectors used for automotive accessories and for battery packs in portable equipment.
